In-home sessions feel so different than sessions in a generic location. You might feel like your home isn’t perfect, but trust me that it’s more about an environment where you feel comfortable and therefore more yourself. If there is a big reason why we can’t use your home, I’m flexible, but I think you’ll really adore the final result even though it may feel pretty vulnerable. We will usually photograph both inside and outside, and I have done sessions at apartments, condos, rented places, starter homes, you name it!

Sessions are about two hours long. I find that two hours gives us chances for breaks, whether that’s to feed your newborn or let your big kids have a snack. If that feels long to you, know that the time will feel easy and enjoyable; we will just be hanging out together doing the things you love.

I honestly can say that most of my clients warn me that they’re awkward but my approach lets you relax. It’s amazing how context can set you up for success: if you’re at the beach, surrounded by strangers, being told to pose a certain way, yes I’d feel awkward too. If you’re cuddled on your own couch with the people you love the most, you’re going to feel the warmth and joy that helps you feel like yourself. You’re going to do great (and I’ll talk you through it).

It’s so hard to feel different than you used to feel. I get it. The truth is: this season is only here for a minute and then your baby won’t be a baby anymore. Future you will be happy you did this even if you feel like you want to lose weight first. I encourage an embrace of who you are today because it’s beautiful, even if it feels new. Also, I’ll give you a hug regardless because postpartum is a whole thing. My goodness.

I will guide you through this once you book, but in general I encourage you to pick clothes you love, and to let the relationships be the focal point rather than the clothes.

I recommend reaching out as soon as you know you’d like to be on my calendar and we’ll find a date that works. Maternity clients should aim for week 30-38 (month 8-9)—we can talk together about whether it will be better earlier or later based on a few factors that we can chat about. Newborn clients should try and get a date within the first two months of their child’s birth—we’ll plan loosely and then you’ll let me know when your baby is born to finalize the date. Families often book a month or two in advance.

It’s no problem if there are meltdowns—it’s honestly more surprising to me if there isn’t a meltdown! I am great at creating art out of whatever I’m given and I promise I can handle a toddler (or big kid) protesting. I am great with kids of all ages and have a few tricks up my sleeve for helping them feel comfortable. One of my favorite moments was this one below where the mom was calming her daughter (with chocolate lol). We’ll make it work.

A couple things. A) Some clients do what’s called a motherhood session, where the photos are just you and your kids. This is a beautiful option to get you in the frame. B) I am really good at making these sessions not annoying. Partners will often say that this was the least awkward photo session they’ve done. I am easygoing and I find that I can help your partner, at the very least, not hate it.

I accept credit cards or ACH.

Your session fee covers the two-hour family photo session. Once you receive your final gallery of images you’ll purchase a collection which includes print credit and digital files. Print credit is like a gift card to use toward tangible products like prints, albums, and frames.
-
I do offer a payment plan if that would help you. Let me know you’re interested and I’ll set that up for you.
-
You’ll receive your final image gallery within 4 weeks of your session. From there you will be able to order your physical prints, albums, and frames.

I love to do a phone chat first (real phone not Zoom) so we can put a voice to a name. Kind of like online dating, it helps to get off the internet for a minute! During that call I’ll give you all the details of the collections I offer and I’ll be excited to hear all about the season of life you’d like photographs of. During that chat we will find a date that works for you, and then you’d pay your session fee of $400 and fill out a questionnaire and contract to hold your date. Schedule your phone chat here, I’d love to say hello.
Any other questions, no biggie!
